Flying By

I love to watch the geese fly by. Strong, silent wings beat the air moving them forward, away from me, away to places I know nothing about.

I wish sometimes that I could lift up, lift off with a flap of my wings, leave, move away from this world I know too much about and find those far away places.

Join in the journey, join in the seeking of what I do not know.

But today, the sun shines down on me, warms my skin and my feet are heavy, planted firmly on the ground.

So I raise my face up as the geese fly by, fly over me with strong, silent wings beating the air, moving them forward.

And I'm happy, content, to watch them fly by....

Winter Evening

The wind is blowing tonight and the snow is tap, tap, tapping at the window. The chill sneaks under the door and swirls around my feet as I type. I pull the blanket tighter around my shoulders and dream of sunny days, warm sand and ocean spray.

Wanderlust

I feel the need to move, roam, start in motion.... It always happens this time of year. That little tickle of unsettledness, the need to pack a small bag and just get going. Is it the change of season? The end of long, warm days and the sleepy twilight hovering in my garden? All I know is that the wind has begun to tease the ends of my hair, softly stroke my cheek and I look around to soak it all in. Winter's coming, time to move on.....
